Somethings in life are taken just too seriously. When it comes to body building, I think focusing on abs being taken too seriously. No matter how much we focus on our abs, its the total body fat that actually counts in revealing your six pack. No amount of spot training will sculpt and show off your six pack abs. In the same sense, if you gorge all day and expect your six pack abs to show by running for 30 minutes a day, you’re doing to be very disappointed.

Making sure your six pack abs show is part art and part science. The art part is your workout and the science part is your food. You need both for a master piece. So, I am going to talk about some of the popular myths in these two categories to help guide you through your six pack journey. It is not an easy one, but keep working at it and you’ll certainly see the results.

Myth number 1:

Running for 40 minutes a day is required for six pack abs.

Let me clear this myth right away. Running is good for endurance training and a great cardio exercise. But, running forty minutes or an hour can actually have a negative impact on your muscle building plan. Research has shown that the best running exercise for abs is interval training performed twice a week. For tips on interval taining refer to this article on exercises.

Myth number 2:

Eat fat will make you fat (and it is bad when you’re trying to sculpt a six pack)

Nothing can be farther from the truth! Fat is an essential part of a normal diet. In fact, consuming the right amount of the “right” fat is actually going to make you consume less calories since it get you full faster!! Now all fats are not made equal. Monostaturated fat is very good (olive oil, avocado, nuts) and saturated/trans fat is bad (any oil that is hydrogenated, a lot of packaged food etc). Eat the good and skip the bad. Easy enough?

Myth number 3:

Doing a 100 crunches will get me six pack abs.

While crunches does get your abs to be defined, just crunches will not get your body to reveal six pack abs. Its total body workout, where you get your body fat percentage to below 10 that will start showing off your six pack abs. Here is more information and a quick way to check your body mass index. So focus more on total body workouts and your abs will start to reveal themselves.

Myth number 4:

You repeat your workouts

While its good to get in some workout rather than none, fat burning and six pack revealing exercises depend on muscle confusion. Let me explain. Your body starts to plateau i.e. get used to the trials you’re putting it through after about 4 weeks. Your body gets used to the stress during workouts and adjusts how much calories your burn and starts to conserve more. To avoid the plateau effect, you need to switch your workouts every 4 weeks or so. This will help your body keep burning the calories and rev up your metabolism.

Myth number 5:

Drinking alcohol with diet soda is OK.

While the actual calorie content of your drink might be low, alcohol has strange effects on your body! It slow down your metabolism by up to 80%. And what kind of food do we usually eat with alcohol .. uh .. the fried kind or something not in low calorie range, lets put it that way. So this combination is worse than fat food binge. If you’re working on six pack abs, lay off alcohol totally for atleast 4 weeks. You will save on a ton of extra effort needed to burn off your alcohol induced calories.

Hope this clears up a few common myths around what to do or not to do when working out for six pack abs. As always, remeber – A balanced diet along with a strong regimen of the best ab exercises can get you the ripped abs you have been longing for.

Body Mass Index

Like Ideal Body Weight, Body Mass Index, or BMI, is another popular measure used to see how fit you are in comparison to commonly accepted standards. BMI is used as a quick estimate for body fat based on your height and weight. It can be used to assign a person to a weight category like Overweight or Obese.

Body Mass Index is a popular measure among many medical experts because other body fat indicators are expensive and difficult to do. As we discussed before about body fat indicators, other methods require body calipers or special x-ray equipment. The most accurate body fat indicator requires that you measure your body fat underwater, which is definitely not easy for most people to do!

Since body fat tests can be difficult, a BMI chart or BMI calculator are often used to estimate body fat. The BMI calculator is not 100% accurate, but it should give you a good estimate. Use the BMI calculator below to see where you stand.

Body Mass Index Calculator

To calculate your body mass index, select US or Metric measurements, and enter your weight and height. To see all of the weight categories, click the down arrow to show additional fields. (See more great online Health Calculators at BizCalcs.com.)

  Please upgrade your browser

The results of the BMI calculator should give you a good estimate of your body fat percentage and weight category. As always, don’t rely on the BMI calculator over your doctor’s advice.

Remember: Always check with your doctor about what body fat you should be targeting in your diet and exercise program. You may have more health factors to consider, especially if you have a chronic disease or a family history with medical problems.

Body Mass Index For Abs

I know what you’re thinking… What does BMI have to do with my abs? If you’re just starting out on the road to getting six pack abs, the first step that is often recommended is to reduce your body fat percentage. As I have mentioned before, your body fat percentage needs to be around 10% to reveal your six pack abs.

Even if you do 1,000 crunches a day, you will not be able to see the results of your hard work without first decreasing your body fat. Burning body fat and building muscle can be accomplished through high impact cardio and improved eating habits.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, you can use the BMI calculator as an estimate of your body fat until you get down to the normal range. At that point, you can occasionally check your BMI using the BMI calculator or go to a local gym or doctor’s office for a more accurate measure.

Also, remember that BMI may not be a good measure for you if you are undergoing intense weight training. Muscle weighs more than fat, and athletes with a lot of muscle mass like NFL players may be considered obese despite their low body fat percentage.

Don’t be discouraged if your body fat percentage is high. Also, keep in mind that women tend to trend higher in body fat percentage and BMI calculations because they are built to store more fat than men.

You should not stress yourself out about weighing and measuring yourself. How you feel and how your clothes fit is much more important than getting caught up in the numbers! You will achieve your goals if you stay committed. If you commit to doing the best ab exercise routine and following the abs diet tips on this site, you will be on your way to perfect abs.

Also, BMI may not be a good measure for you if you are undergoing intense weight training. Muscle weighs more than fat, and athletes a lot of muscle mass may be considered obese despite their low body fat percentage.

Hello and welcome to perfect10abs.com. Today we are going to check out the key reasons why you dont see your six pack abs. I am not going to discuss genes, metabloic disorder or hight body mass indec. I am going to focus on the top essential steps that are missed when a person is working out to get six pack abs.

1. You dont workout

Guys and gals, sorry to break this to ya, unless you work in a real physically demanding job like construction or something, you need to work out ot burn calories. The ratio between consumption and burn is just not equal. The ancient greeks did not go to the gym (neither did they have fast food joints), but have you seen how they are depicted in status etc? Ripped, with six pack abs. Have you seen the stuff they built? Wonder who carried those heavy stones up the hill by hand?

2. You dont watch your sugar intake

Sugar is in almost everything we consume these days. Coffe, soft drinks, candy etc. And most of it is not even real sugar! Its high fructose corn syrup. None of these products are going to strip away the fat and expose the perfect abs you have hiding inside. You really need to watch what you eat.

3. You consume too much alcohol

Alcohol comes with too many hidden calories. Alchohol also promotes unhealthy eathing. Not directly but it is a certain “side-effect”. What goes good with beer? Chicken wings or a garden salad? I rest my case. Keep it to one or two drink per week. If you’re on a exercise program to expose those abs of yours, stay away until you have reached your goal.

4. You dont eat breakfast

It is the most important meal of the day. The benefits of eating breakfast are way too many. In kids and adults it has shown increased mental focus and better concentration through out the day. It helps with portion control through out the day by preventing over eating. Plus its probably the easiest healthy meal to make. Eggs and toast, cereal and milk etc

5. You every meal outside

Unless you cook your meals at home, you are completely at the mercy of what you’re being served. It is way easier and probably cheaper to eat healthier at home. You know what goes in, you can control your portions easier and save left overs for the next day. Cooking gives you a great appreciation for food as well, so you give the respect it really deserves instead of being served microwaved meat with some ketchup between two buns.

6. You dont drink water

The need to hydrate is very important for a healthy body. Water also keeps the stomach full. The brain sometime mistakes thirst for hunger. Stay hydrated during the day, especially before, during and after an intense workout. Your body and your brain will thank you for that.

7. You dont sleep well

You need between 7 and 8 hours of rest everyday. I ask people with midnight cravings, why are you awake at midnight? Unless you’re working a night shift, or some pressing personal reason, there is absolutely no reason to stay awake until midnight. A full nights rest for atleast 7 hours, prefebrably between 8PM and 6AM is the best. Consuming calories too late during the day when physcial activity winds down leads to more fat storage. Please, do yourself a favour and hit the sack. You’ll be doing yourself and your body a great favour.

Sculpting a six pack requires focus on both food and exercises. Try these simple but effective best ab exercises and tips. Add them to your work out and you’ll have a perfect body ready in a matter of weeks.

Ideal Body Weight

There is one common thing among all people – including people with ripped abs or a perfect flat stomach. Everyone wants to know how they can achieve an ideal body. The first step for most people is finding out where they stand in relation to ideal body standards.

Ideal body weight is a touchy issue, since ideal body weight is viewed differently by everyone. Medical experts can’t even agree on a single ideal body weight standard. Despite this, people still want to know where they stand in relation to other people.

Since it is difficult to apply an ideal weight chart to everyone, there are 4 commonly accepted calculations used for creating an ideal weight chart. You can use the ideal weight calculator below to get an estimate of what your ideal body weight would be using all 4 of the commonly accepted standards.

Ideal Weight Calculator

To calculate your ideal body weight, select US or Metric measurements, and enter your gender and height. To see all 4 of the common ideal weight calculations, click the down arrow to show additional fields. (See more great online Health Calculators at BizCalcs.com.)

The results of the ideal weight calculator should give you a good idea of where you stand in relation to the ideal. The results of this calculator are just a rough estimate of ideal body weight. Don’t rely on the ideal weight calculator over your doctor’s advice.

Remember: Always check with your doctor about what weight you should be targeting in your diet and exercise program. You may have more health factors such as body frame, chronic diseases, and family medical history that may impact your ideal weight.

Ideal Body Weight For Abs

Getting down to the ideal weight shown in the ideal weight calculator is just one of the first steps to achieving six pack abs. Do not feel discouraged if your body weight increases as your percentage of body fat decreases. Muscle weighs more than fat, so you should not be worried about meeting your ideal weight targets if you have started intense weight training toward building six pack abs.

The optimal body fat range to reveal six pack abs is around 10% (8%-12%, depending on body type). It can be a challenging journey to achieve this, but remember to NEVER GIVE UP! Keep following your abs diet and exercise routine, and you can rest assured any pounds added to your weight are lean muscle.

Now that you have used our ideal weight calculator, continue exploring this site to see how you can start the journey to six pack abs. A healthy diet following our abs diet tips and following a strong regimen of the bestab exercise can help you achieve the results you want in a healthy and balanced way.

Welcome to perfect10abs.com! People ask me this question. Do you really need six pack abs? The answer is YES!

Now, I am not talking about Fight Club ‘Brad Pitt’ abs, but people with a belly are more prone to serious life threatening diseases.

Studies have shown that the risk of diseases keep increasing as your waist size keeps increasing. Most people have excess fat accumulate around the waist. Hence to get your six pack abs to show one should significantly reduce the amount of body fat that they carry. This in turn helps cut the risks of getting many diseases including heart problems.

As per my previous article, food is a major cause of fat gain. Simple carbohydrates are in most cases equal to eating pure sugar. This proves that weight gain is not by simply consuming too many calories or eating chocolate and ice cream.

Having perfect abs will not guarantee perfect health or a disease free life. There are other causes for diabetes, heart problems, cholesterol etc. But as with anything in life, avoiding your belly increases your chances for a stronger, healthier life.

Ready to get started? Check out the best ab exercises and weight loss tips today!
